It takes alot to get on my top list of favorite singers. I knew alot about alicia keys many years ago, but never caught on to her music, until now. I like a mix of things, from some Depache mode, some country music, and some rock, not hard rock, just soft rock, christian rock, some older rock. These last few years I've been mostly hooked on The Corrs, a celtic type band. When I heard and saw her video on Utube "No One", just breath taking, shes hot and I know many would say the same and have I'm sure. This will be my very first R&B/Soul album.
Some of the tracks here are a bit heavy on the feminism, so guys may want to think twice before picking this one up. The vocals are okay, but I think she's a little over-rated, mainly because she writes her own stuff, unlike most of her peers. She's a black r&b version of certain i-am-woman white singer-songwriter chicks. A few of the melodies stick, but there's a fair amount of filler towards the end.
I love her and I love this album. Can I just say that if I could be anyone in the world I would want to be Alicia Keys. She is gorgeous, talented, intelligent, and classy. She's not like many female R&B artist who sing about nothing. Superwoman, That's the Thing About Love, I Need You, Go Ahead, Like You'll Never See Me Again, and No One are my favs from this CD.
Alicia Keys again dazzles with a collection of songs that showcase her voice & her ability to chose lyrics that are stirring & meaningful. Tracks are well mixed & great for a dinner party or a road trip.
Alicia has no peers when it comes to the smooth soul sound that was found in artist like Marvin Gaye, and groups like the Orginals and the Ojays. She takes you for a walk through love land and sets the mood for romance. Her music can make the young dream and the old remember what its like to be in love. I hope she want change a thing about and keep on doing what no one else can do any better.
